So, I decided to check out a Texas A&M volleyball game the other day. Heard some buzz, figured why not see it for myself. Wasn’t sure what to expect, really, just wanted a different kind of evening out.

Getting Myself Organized
First thing was checking the schedule. Found a home game that worked. Didn’t bother with tickets beforehand, just planned to grab one there. Seemed easy enough for volleyball, not like football madness.
Then came the drive over to Reed Arena. Finding parking wasn’t too bad, actually. Got a spot that wasn’t a million miles away, which was nice. You could feel a bit of energy building up even just walking towards the building. Lots of maroon, as you’d expect.
Inside Reed Arena
Walked in, got my ticket sorted pretty quick at the window. The staff were helpful enough. Then I headed inside to find a seat. The arena’s pretty big, obviously used for basketball too, but the setup for volleyball felt good. It felt closer, more involved somehow.
I found a decent spot, not too high up, not too low down. Watched the teams warming up. It’s quite something seeing them practice up close – the power behind those hits, you know? The crowd started trickling in. Mostly students and families, seemed like a good atmosphere.
- Grabbed a drink before things got going.
- Found my section and a good seat.
- Watched the warm-ups and the place filling up.
Game Time Action
Then the game started. Introductions, the national anthem, the usual stuff. But once the first serve went up, the energy really kicked in. Man, those players move fast. It’s non-stop action, back and forth. You really gotta keep your eye on the ball.
The Aggie team looked pretty sharp. Some really powerful serves and spikes. The blocking at the net was intense too. You could hear the thud of the ball even with the crowd noise. The other team put up a good fight, kept things interesting. There were some amazing digs, players diving all over the court. It’s way more athletic than it looks on TV.

The crowd was really into it. Lots of cheering, the usual chants led by the student section. The band played during timeouts, adding to the whole college game feel. It was just a fun environment to be in. You get caught up in the points, groaning when we lost one, cheering like crazy when we scored.
Wrapping Up the Evening
The game went by pretty fast, actually. A&M ended up winning, which was cool, the crowd went home happy. Watched the teams shake hands and then started heading out with everyone else.
Leaving the arena was smooth. No major traffic jams getting out of the parking lot, which is always a plus. Drove home thinking it was a pretty good way to spend an evening. Just a solid, entertaining experience. Didn’t require massive planning, just showed up and enjoyed the game. Might have to do it again sometime.
