Okay, so, I’ve been trying to get back into shape lately. Nothing crazy, just trying to feel better and have more energy, you know? I remembered that someone told me that boxing was a good choice, so I thought I’d give it a go.
Started this whole thing last month. First couple of days, I just looked up some videos online, trying to figure out the basics. I bought a pair of boxing gloves and practiced some simple punches.
Here’s what I did:
- Day 1-3: Watched some basic boxing tutorial videos and just tried to copy the moves. Felt pretty silly, but hey, gotta start somewhere, right?
- Day 4-7: Started with a basic warm-up, like jogging in place and some stretches. Then, I practiced jabs, crosses, and hooks. My arms were like jelly afterward. I tried to do three rounds of three minutes each, with a one-minute rest in between.
- Day 8-14: Continued with the same routine but tried to add a bit more intensity. I also started incorporating some footwork drills. Let me tell you, moving around while punching is way harder than it looks!
Then, last weekend, I thought, why not mix things up a bit? I remembered reading about this “6-12-25” thing for workouts. It’s basically doing one exercise for 6 reps, another for 12, and a final one for 25. I gave it a shot with some basic stuff, like squats and push-ups.
My Weekend Workout
- Warm-up: 5 minutes of light cardio and dynamic stretching.
- 6-12-25 Circuit:
- 6 reps: Squats – these were tough after just 6, my legs were already burning.
- 12 reps: Push-ups – by this point, I was feeling it in my chest and arms.
- 25 reps: Jumping jacks – this was a killer, really got my heart racing.
- Cool-down: 5 minutes of static stretching, focusing on my legs and arms.
Honestly, that 6-12-25 circuit was brutal. I did the whole thing three times, with a short break in between each round. I was completely wiped out by the end of it. My muscles were sore for a couple of days, but it felt good, like I really accomplished something. The boxing combined with this circuit thing might just be what I need.
I’m going to keep at it. I’m thinking of maybe doing the boxing routine three times a week and then throwing in that circuit workout on the weekends. I’ll see how it goes. Maybe next month I can start hitting a bag! I think it’s important to keep things interesting, so you don’t get bored. I just hope I can stick with it this time and actually see some results. We’ll see. Wish me luck!
