So, I wanted to make this “app major sports” thing, right? I’d been thinking about it for a while. I figured, “Hey, I’m always checking scores and news for different sports, why not have it all in one place?”. Sounds simple, huh? Famous last words.

Getting Started
First, I brainstormed. I needed to figure out what sports to include. I mean, there’s the obvious ones like football, basketball, baseball… but then what? Hockey? Soccer? I even thought about adding, like, cricket. I eventually decided to focus on the big ones in the US, for starters, to avoid things getting out of control.
I also doodled some rough sketches of what the app might look like. Nothing fancy, just boxes and arrows on paper. I wanted something that would be easy to use, not all cluttered with a bunch of crazy stuff.
- Main Screen: A list of the sports.
- Sport Detail: Latest scores, maybe some news headlines.
- Settings: Possibly pick favorite teams or something.
The Messy Middle
Next, I tried to find some data. I mean, where was I going to get all the scores and news? I searched around, and let me tell you, that was a rabbit hole. There are tons of places, but figuring out how to actually use the data was…tricky. I experimented with a few free ones, but most of it was either really complicated or super expensive, just not going to do it.
Then, I started playing with some basic coding. I’m no expert, but I know enough to, you know, make a button show up. I spent hours just trying to get a simple list of sports to display correctly. It felt like for every step forward, I took two steps back.
I ran into all sorts of problems. Stuff that looked easy in the tutorials was suddenly impossible. I spent a whole evening just trying to fix one stupid error message. It was… frustrating.
Making (Some) Progress
Eventually, I managed to get a very basic version working. I could pick a sport, and it would show… something. Not much, but something. It wasn’t pretty, and it definitely wasn’t ready for anyone else to see, but it was progress!

I realized I needed to learn a lot more. I started watching some online courses and reading articles. I’m still working on it, still learning, but I’m getting there. Slowly.
I haven’t given up! I will do it!
