Okay, so I’ve been meaning to get more active, you know, like actually do something instead of just thinking about it. I kept seeing stuff online about “AM sports” and how great they are for getting your day going. I figured, why not give it a shot? So, I decided to try jogging.

First things first, I dug out my old running shoes. They were buried at the back of my closet, looking pretty sad and dusty. I gave them a good wipe-down and laced them up. Felt kinda weird at first, like wearing moon boots or something.
Getting Started (Painfully)
The first morning was rough. I set my alarm for 6:00 AM, which, let me tell you, is not a time I usually see. I stumbled out of bed, threw on some clothes (that I’d luckily laid out the night before, thank goodness), and headed out the door.
It was chilly! I definitely wasn’t prepared for that. My first few steps were more like awkward shuffles. I felt like a baby giraffe learning to walk. Seriously, I’m sure I looked ridiculous.
I started with a slow jog, just around my block. My lungs started burning almost immediately. Like, “fire-breathing dragon” burning. I kept going though, even though every part of my body was screaming at me to stop.I jogged for, like, maybe 15 minutes total? It felt like an hour.
The Aftermath
- Benefit 1:Surprisingly, I did feel more awake after the jog.
- Benefit 2:My body feel energetic.
I came back home, completely drenched in sweat, and collapsed on the couch. Every muscle in my legs ached.I took a hot shower, which helped a little, but I was pretty sure I’d be walking like a cowboy for the rest of the day.
But you know what? Even though it was tough, I felt… good. Like, I’d actually accomplished something before most people were even awake. I’m not saying I’m going to become a marathon runner or anything, but I think I might actually try this “AM sports” thing again. Maybe. After I can walk normally again.
