Okay, so the other day I decided to get serious about my volleyball setup. I’ve been playing casually for a while, but I wanted to make sure I had all the right gear, you know, to actually play a proper game. So, I started by listing out everything I thought I needed.

My Volleyball Equipment Checklist
First things first, I needed a volleyball. Duh! But not just any volleyball. I wanted one that felt good, had a decent grip, and wouldn’t sting my arms every time I bumped it. I remembered playing with those cheap, hard-as-rock balls before, and no thanks!
- Volleyball: Went for a softer, composite leather one.
Next up: knee pads. I’m not getting any younger, and my knees definitely appreciate a little extra cushioning when I’m diving for the ball. I’ve learned that the hard way – scraped knees are not fun.
- Knee Pads:Got some with extra padding. Comfort is key!
Then, I thought about shoes. I used to just wear my regular running shoes, but they weren’t really cutting it. I needed something with better ankle support and grip for those quick lateral movements. So, I went out and bought some.
- Shoes: Opted for actual volleyball shoes. Makes a world of difference.
After that, I considered getting some athletic tape. It’s always good to have on hand for minor sprains or just extra support for my ankles. You never know, right?
- Athletic Tape: Always good to have, just in case.
And lastly, I needed a net! How else can you play? I looked up how to setup a volleyball net.
- Net system: Found the regulation height and tension instructions online, pretty straightforward.
Then is setting up the net.

So, I found some sturdy poles and a decent net. Setting it up was a bit of a workout, but hey, that’s part of the fun, right? I made sure to get the net height right – gotta follow the rules, even if it’s just a friendly game.
With everything set up, I grabbed a few friends, and we had a blast! It felt so much better playing with the proper equipment. My passes were more accurate, my dives felt safer, and I could actually move around the court without slipping.
Seriously, investing in some good volleyball gear made a huge difference. Now I’m ready for some serious games!
