Okay, so I’ve been messing around with this idea of “automatic sport,” and let me tell you, it’s been a wild ride. It all started with me being, well, kinda lazy. I love the idea of sports, but actually doing them? That’s a whole other story.
So, I started thinking, “What if I could automate some of this?” Not, like, replace actual sports, but maybe… enhance them? Or at least make them a bit more accessible to a couch potato like myself.
Phase 1: The Dream
- I imagined all sorts of things: robots playing basketball, AI-powered tennis partners, virtual reality soccer games where I could just sit on my sofa and score goals.
- I spent hours just brainstorming crazy concepts. It was fun, even if most of it was totally unrealistic.
Phase 2: Reality Bites (and It Hurts)
Then I started, you know, actually trying to build something. And let me tell you, it’s harder than it looks. I’m no engineer, and my coding skills are… let’s just say they’re “developing.”
- My first attempt was a simple robot that was supposed to throw a ball. Keyword: supposed to. It mostly just spun in circles and occasionally flung the ball at the wall.
- I tried using some pre-built kits, thinking that would make things easier. Nope. Still ended up with a pile of wires and a very confused-looking robot.
Phase 3: Small Victories (and a Lot of Frustration)
I decided to scale back my ambitions. Way back. Instead of a full-blown robot athlete, I focused on something simpler: a device that would automatically count my (very pathetic) attempts at push-ups.
- I used a simple motion sensor and some basic code to track when I went up and down. It wasn’t pretty, but it worked… sometimes.
- There were plenty of times when it would miscount, or just stop working altogether. But hey, progress is progress, right?
Phase 4: Where I’m At Now
So, where am I now in my “automatic sport” journey? Well, I haven’t exactly revolutionized the world of athletics. But I have learned a few things:
- Building stuff is hard.
- Robots are not as easy to control as they look in movies.
- Even small victories feel pretty good.
- Keep going and have fun.
I’m still tinkering, still experimenting, and still dreaming of a future where I can be a world-class athlete from the comfort of my couch. It might be a long way off, but hey, a guy can dream, right?
