Okay, so the other day I was messing around with my friends, and we got into this debate: can you actually kick a volleyball in a game? I mean, we all see it happen sometimes, but is it, like, legal?

So, I decided to put this to the test. First, I grabbed my dusty old volleyball from the garage. It’s seen better days, honestly.
The Experiment Begins
I took the ball outside to my backyard. My “court” is basically just a patch of grass that’s more weeds than anything, but hey, it works. I started by just tossing the ball up and giving it a good whack with my foot. Felt weird, not gonna lie.
- First few tries, the ball just went all over the place. No control whatsoever.
- Then, I tried to focus on hitting it with the inside of my foot, like a soccer pass. A bit better, but still pretty random.
- My dog thought this whole thing was hilarious. He kept trying to steal the ball. Distracting!
After a while, I actually managed to get some decent kicks in. Not super powerful, but I could kind of aim them. I even practiced kicking it over an imaginary net (a.k.a., a rope tied between two trees). It was… surprisingly tiring. Who knew kicking a volleyball would be a workout?
The Realization
I got the ball and control, but the feeling is really odd. I think If I really try to kick it into the game, I will easily be out of control.
I think it is okay that I can kick a volleyball in a game. It’s probably not the best way to play, but it might work in a pinch.I will try it next time!
