Okay, so today I decided to kickstart my fitness journey. I’ve been feeling pretty sluggish lately, and I know I need to get moving. I didn’t want to go crazy, just something to get me started, so I thought, “Fitness and a bit of sport, why not?”
First thing this morning, I dragged myself out of bed a little earlier than usual. No hitting snooze five times today! I threw on some workout clothes – nothing fancy, just an old t-shirt and some shorts. I didn’t even bother with shoes at first.
Warm-up Woes
- Started with some basic stretches. Oh boy, my hamstrings were tight!
- Tried some jumping jacks. Felt like a baby giraffe learning to walk.
- Did a few arm circles. My shoulders are definitely not used to this.
After the, uh, “warm-up,” I decided to head outside. It was a nice day, not too hot, not too cold. Perfect for a little jog. I started slow, more of a brisk walk, really. I wanted to test, and feel my body.
I jogged around the block, then walked, then jogged again. I was definitely huffing and puffing, but I kept going. I wasn’t aiming for any records, just wanted to get my heart rate up a bit.
Sporty Spice (Not Really)
Then I remembered there’s a small basketball hoop in the park nearby. I haven’t shot hoops in ages! I found a slightly deflated basketball and started dribbling. My handles were rusty, to say the least.
- Tried a few layups. Missed most of them.
- Attempted some free throws. Slightly better, but still embarrassing.
- Managed to make a few shots. Felt like a pro for about 30 seconds.
After about 20 minutes of that, I was pretty much done. I walked back home, feeling surprisingly good. Tired, yes, but also energized. It wasn’t a super intense workout or anything, but I moved my body, and that’s what matters.
I finished up with a quick cool-down stretch and then hopped in the shower. Definitely going to feel this tomorrow, but it was worth it. Small steps, right? Gotta start somewhere!
