Okay, so the other day, I decided to get into making signs for volleyball games. It seemed like a fun project, and honestly, who doesn’t love getting a little crafty?

Getting Started
First things first, I needed to figure out what I wanted these signs to say. I brainstormed a bunch of ideas:
- “Go Team!” (Classic, can’t go wrong)
- “Ace!” (For when someone serves up a beauty)
- “Block Party!” (For those epic blocks)
- “Dig It!” (Encouragement for those awesome saves)
- Maybe some funny inside jokes for my team.
After I selected my favourite phrases, I gathered my materials. I grabbed some thick poster board, a bunch of colorful markers, some glitter (because, why not?), and a ruler to keep my lines somewhat straight.
Making the Signs
I started by lightly sketching out the letters on the poster board with a pencil. This was key because, let’s be real, my freehand lettering skills are… let’s just say “enthusiastic.” Once I was happy with the pencil outlines, I went over them with the markers, making the letters big and bold.
Here’s a little tip: I used different colors for each word to really make them pop. And, of course, I added a generous amount of glitter to some of the signs. Because everything’s better with glitter, right?
The Finishing Touches
After the markers dried, I took a step back to admire my handiwork. They looked pretty good, if I do say so myself! I decided to add some extra details, like little volleyball drawings and some fun borders. It’s all about those little touches, you know?
I also made sure to leave some space at the bottom of each sign so people could hold them up without covering the words. Functionality is important, people!

Game Time!
Finally, it was time to put these signs to the test. At the next volleyball game, I proudly held up my creations. And guess what? People loved them! They were a total hit, and they really added to the energy of the game. It was awesome to see something I made get such a positive reaction.
It is so interesting and I’ll try other designs next time!
