Okay, so, I’ve been thinking a lot about college football lately, especially with all the coaching changes happening. It’s like a whole game of musical chairs out there! I decided to dig in and figure out who might be the next big names in college football coaching. You know, like the guys who are currently coordinators but could totally run their own show soon.

First, I started by just looking at recent news. I read a bunch of articles about up-and-coming coaches. There were some names that kept popping up, so I made a list. I mostly focused on coordinators because those guys are usually next in line for head coaching jobs.
Then, I wanted to see what other people were saying. I checked out some sports websites that rank potential coaching candidates. It was interesting to see how their lists compared to mine. This year is not a strong year for the coaching carousel.
After that, I dug deeper into a few specific names. For example, Jamey Chadwell at Liberty seems to be a hot commodity. I looked up his track record, and it’s pretty impressive. He’s definitely someone to watch. Another head coach that could be next in line for a Power conference job.
I also learned that the age of the head coaches is getting younger. This year, Utah State interim head coach Nate Dreiling (34) is currently the youngest person in charge of an FBS program, followed by Arizona State coach Kenny Dillingham and UTEP coach Scotty Walden.
Of course, no talk about coaching is complete without mentioning the legends. You know, guys like Paul “Bear” Bryant. It’s crazy to think about how much he accomplished. He was considered the greatest college football coach of all time. And then there’s Billy Napier at Florida. There was a lot of speculation about his job security, but it looks like he’s staying put for now. UF athletic director Scott Stricklin released a statement addressing “Gator Nation”.
Here’s what I came up with after all my research:

- A list of coordinators who seem ready to take the next step.
- Some insights into what makes a good head coaching candidate like leadership, innovation, and resumes.
- A better understanding of the current coaching landscape in college football.
It was a fun little project, and I definitely learned a lot. It’ll be interesting to see which of these guys actually end up getting head coaching jobs in the next few years. I’ll be keeping an eye out for sure!
