Okay, so yesterday I tried out a bunch of fun volleyball warm-up games with my team, and let me tell you, it was a blast! We’re always looking for ways to spice things up before practice, and these games did just the trick.

Getting Started
>
First, I gathered everyone in a circle. It’s super important to get everyone’s energy up and bodies moving, so we began with the warm-up.
The Warm-up Games
-
Pepper: Classic, right? We all know the drill, but I made sure to change it up a bit. We had to say something before touch the ball. Just something, keep things moving!
-
Volleyball Tennis: This one’s always a hit. I divided the team into smaller groups and had them play mini-games of volleyball tennis over the net. It’s great for getting those reflexes going and practicing controlled hits.
-
Target Practice: I set up some cones as targets on the other side of the court. The goal was to serve or hit the ball and try to knock down the cones. It’s awesome for improving accuracy and it gets pretty competitive!
The Little Things
Kept an eye on everyone to make sure they’re actually warming up and not just goofing around (though a little goofing is fine!). Adjusted the games based on how everyone was feeling. If a game felt too easy or too hard, I changed things up.
Wrapping Up
After about 20-30 minutes of these games, I could see the energy change. Everyone was laughing, moving better, and definitely ready for practice. I called everyone back in, did a quick stretch, and jumped right into our drills. The warm-up games really set a positive tone, It was way better than just doing static stretches!
