Okay, so I got this project, right? I’m supposed to make something cool about Title IX and how it helped women in sports, especially at Washington State University. The title of the thing is “WSU Women’s Basketball: Power of Title IX Photo”. Sounds pretty serious, huh? Let me tell you how I got this done.

First, I dug into what Title IX even is. Turns out, it’s this law from back in 1972 that basically says, “Hey, you can’t treat people differently because of their gender in school stuff,” which includes sports. It was a huge deal for women athletes, who didn’t have the same opportunities as guys back then.
Research & Gather Materials
- Read a bunch of stuff about Title IX and WSU.
- Found out WSU was actually super important in making Title IX stick, especially with this court case, Blair v. Washington State University. That was a game-changer.
- Looked for old photos and stories of women athletes at WSU.
Then, I started thinking about how to show all this in a photo. I wanted to capture the strength and determination of the WSU women’s basketball team, and show how they’re connected to the history of Title IX. It was like piecing together a puzzle.
Conceptualize & Plan
- Brainstormed ideas for the photo. Should it be an action shot? A portrait? A mix of both?
- Decided to go with a powerful group shot of the team, maybe with some historical elements in the background.
- Planned out the shoot – where to take the photo, what the lighting should be like, and so on.
Next, I reached out to the basketball team. They were stoked about the project and totally on board. We picked a day for the photoshoot, and I got everything ready. I wanted the photo to feel strong and inspiring, like these women are carrying on the legacy of Title IX.
Execute the Photoshoot
- Met with the team and explained the concept.
- Set up the shot, making sure the lighting was just right.
- Took a ton of photos, trying different poses and angles.
- Made sure to capture the team’s spirit and energy.
After the shoot, I looked through all the photos and picked the best one. It was tough because there were so many good ones! Then I did some editing to make it look even better, like adjusting the colors and stuff. I wanted the final photo to really pop. I was pretty stoked about how it turned out.
Edit & Finalize
- Chose the best photo that really captured the essence of the project.
- Edited the photo to enhance its impact.
- Made sure the final image was high-quality and ready to be shared.
Finally, I put together a little write-up to go with the photo, explaining the history of Title IX and how it impacted WSU. It was really cool to learn about all the amazing women who fought for their rights back in the day. This whole project made me appreciate how far we’ve come, and how important it is to keep pushing for equality in sports and everywhere else.
Man, this project was a journey. But seeing that final photo, knowing the story behind it, and how it connects to this bigger picture of women in sports, that was worth it. It really made me realize the power of what a simple photo can represent. And I hope it makes others think about the power of Title IX too.
