Okay, so today I wanted to talk about my little adventure with volleyball game points. It all started when I decided to join a local volleyball team. I mean, I’ve always loved the sport, watched it on TV, even played a bit in high school, but never really got serious about it, you know?

So, I joined this team, and let me tell you, it was a whole different ball game. I started with the basics, like serving and passing. I remember the first time I tried to serve, the ball barely made it over the net. But I kept practicing. Every day after work, I was out there on the court, hitting that ball, trying to get it to go where I wanted it to.
Then came the games. Oh boy, the games. The first few were rough. We lost more than we won. But with each game, I started to understand the flow, the rhythm, you know? And that’s when I really got into this whole “game point” thing.
See, in our league, a non-deciding game goes to 25 points, and you need to win by at least 2 points. If it’s a deciding game, it’s first to 15, same deal, win by 2. And every rally, someone scores a point. Sounds simple, right? But it’s the pressure when you’re at 24-23 that really gets you.
- I learned to call for the ball, like yelling “mine” so my teammates knew I had it.
- I worked on my footwork, always moving, always ready.
- I focused on getting that first ball to our setter, setting up the play.
One game, I remember it clearly, we were tied 24-24. The other team served, and it was coming right at me. I got under it, bumped it perfectly to our setter. She set it up, and our hitter spiked it down. Point! We won that game, and it was the best feeling.
But it’s not always about winning. Another time, we were down 14-10 in a deciding game. We fought back, point by point. I served an ace, dove for a ball, even blocked a spike. We tied it up, 14-14. The next point, they got it. It was heartbreaking, but we gave it our all.
So, that’s my story about volleyball game points. It’s about more than just the score. It’s about the teamwork, the practice, the highs and lows. And you know what? I wouldn’t trade it for anything. I even started helping the new folks on the team with their game.

I guess what I’m trying to say is, just get out there and try it. You might surprise yourself. Volleyball’s been a blast for me, and maybe it will be for you too.
