Today, I wanted to dig into something a bit nostalgic – the Georgia College & State University (GCSU) basketball alumni. I’ve been feeling a bit sentimental lately, reminiscing about the good old days, and it got me thinking about all those amazing players who’ve graced the GCSU courts over the years.

So, I started where anyone would – I dove into the internet. I began by looking through some old photos and let me tell you, it was a trip down memory lane. Seeing those familiar faces, the old uniforms, and the packed stands in the background really brought back a flood of memories. I could almost hear the roar of the crowd and the squeak of sneakers on the court.
Next, I started to compile a list of names. I wanted to see what some of my favorite players had been up to since their time at GCSU. It was cool to see how many of them continued with basketball, playing professionally or coaching. I stumbled upon a social media post, I think it was from gcsu_hoops, from July 12th. There were some comments and 52 likes.
- I spent hours going through different websites, social media profiles, and old news articles.
- It was like being a detective, piecing together bits of information to get a full picture of these players’ journeys.
- I even found some information on upcoming alumni events, which got me excited about the possibility of reconnecting with some old friends.
One guy, in particular, caught my attention. He was a member of the Bobcat Basketball Team, and I remember him well. Not just because he was 6-foot-9, but because he had this incredible spirit, always positive and energetic. I managed to track him down and was thrilled to see he’s still involved in the basketball world, doing some great things. His journey is really interesting, and I was so excited to find out.
It was awesome to read about “Georgia College & State University Athletics” and all of their sports teams such as Baseball and Basketball, they even have a Facebook page and Twitter account! I was happy to be reminded that the 2024-25 GCSU Men’s Basketball schedule is coming up, and people can buy tickets for games.
Reflecting on Memories
This whole process reminded me that whether someone was on campus 50 years ago or just graduated last year, the GCSU experience leaves a lasting impact. It’s more than just a school; it’s a community. And the basketball program is a big part of that. This experience made me think about how important it is to stay connected with our roots. It’s easy to get caught up in the present, but sometimes it’s nice to look back and appreciate where we came from.
So, that’s my little trip down memory lane. It was a fun and rewarding experience, and it definitely got me thinking about attending some of those upcoming alumni events. Who knows, maybe I’ll see some of you there!
