Okay, so I’ve been wanting to get into this game, “Spike Volleyball,” and finally took the plunge. I’d heard it was pretty realistic, and being a huge volleyball fan, I was stoked.

First things first, I grabbed the game on my PC. I gotta say, finding it was easy peasy.
Getting Started
I fired up the game, and boom, straight into the main menu. The graphics? Pretty slick, I gotta admit. Not super high-end, but definitely good enough to get you in the mood. I spent a few minutes just poking around the different options. You’ve got your quick match, career mode, online play—the usual suspects.
Exhibition match
I dove right into an exhibition match to get a feel for the controls. I choose japan men’s team and vs brazil men’s team.
- Serving: This took some getting used to. It’s not just pressing a button; you’ve gotta time it right and aim. I flubbed a few serves at first, sending them straight into the net or way out of bounds. Practice makes perfect, I guess.
- Passing: Okay, this felt pretty intuitive. You move your player to get under the ball, and then it’s all about timing the button press to get a good pass to your setter.
- Setting: I am setter now, so I need to be fast to run to the ball and time the button to setting.
- Spiking: Now we’re talking! This is where the fun really begins. You get to choose your approach, jump, and then try to smash the ball past the blockers. The timing is crucial here. Hit it too early or too late, and you’ll either get blocked or send the ball flying into the stands. I definitely whiffed a few times before I started getting the hang of it.
- Blocking: This is surprisingly challenging. You have to anticipate where the spiker is going to hit, position your blockers, and then jump at the right moment. I got stuffed a few times, but I also managed to pull off a couple of sweet blocks, which felt awesome.
keep play
I’m still getting the hang of the game. I’m definitely going to keep playing and maybe even try out the career mode or some online matches.
