Okay, here is a blog post sharing my experience about researching the football roster and schedule for Athens Christian School:
Man, I spent all morning trying to dig up some info on the Athens Christian School football team. I really wanted to figure out who was on the team this year and when they were playing. It is not as easy as you would think!
First, I hit up Google. Just typed in “Athens Christian School football roster” and “Athens Christian School football schedule.” I got a bunch of random stuff – nothing useful. Then I went to the school’s website. You would think they would have it posted somewhere easy to find, right? Nope! I clicked around on their athletics page for a good 20 minutes before I started to get a headache.
Feeling a little defeated, I figured maybe a local newspaper site would have the scoop. I checked out the websites for a couple of papers in the Athens area. Still no luck. I was starting to think this information was top-secret or something. That is when I remembered MaxPreps.
So, I went to MaxPreps, searched for Athens Christian School, and boom! There was the football page. They had the whole roster listed out with each player’s position and year. It was a lifesaver. And get this – they also had the full season schedule with dates, times, and opponents. I have no idea why I did not just start there.
I spent the next little while jotting down the roster and schedule in my notebook. I like to have a hard copy of this stuff. It is just easier to reference during the season. Once I had everything written down, I decided to create a spreadsheet on my computer.
- Organized the players by position.
- Sorted the schedule by date.
- Added some extra columns for stats.
I can track everything throughout the year now. By the time I finished getting everything organized, it was lunchtime. It took way longer than I expected but at least it is handled now.
The things we do as sports fans, huh? Hopefully, my experience can help someone else out there who might be trying to find the same information.
Alright, time to grab some food. My stomach is starting to growl. Talk to you all later!
