Okay, so I’ve been trying to get better at recording my volleyball games. You know, so I can watch them later and, like, see what I’m doing wrong, where I can improve, that sort of thing. I started out just using my phone, propped up on my bag. Super basic, right?
The problem was, the angle was always messed up. Half the time I could barely see myself, and the quality? Forget about it. Shaky, blurry… a total mess. I figured there had to be a better way. So, I did some digging, asked around the team, and looked for some apps that promised great recording.
Finding the Right App
I tried a few free ones first. They were okay, I guess. Some had timers, which was kind of handy, and different recording qualities, but it wasn’t much better than my phone itself. Then, I stumbled upon some recommendations.
- Some Paid Apps: A bunch of people swore these were great, but I don’t want to say any brand because it is not necessary. They are not free, man!
- My Phone Camera: This is the old way. I was not happy.
- My Friend’s Suggestion: Some people suggest some free recording apps. I was interested.
My Experimentation
I downloaded some free apps. The interface looked clean, and I could set it to record in pretty high quality. I liked that I could pick the frame rate – that seemed important for catching all the fast action in volleyball.
Then came the real test: game day! I set up my phone on a little tripod this time (game changer!), positioned it to get the whole court, and hit record using the App. The recording looked SO much better! I could actually see the ball clearly, my movements, everything. It was such a difference compared to my old bag-propped-up method.
After the game, I reviewed the footage. I paused, rewinded, and really watched what I did well and what I needed to improve. I could even share short clips with my coach to get her feedback. That was super helpful!
So, yeah, after some trial and error, I found using a decent recording app with good quality setting and, seriously, a tripod, made all the difference. My recordings are way better, and it is actually useful tool for improving my game.
