Okay, so today I wanted to get a really good look at how the men’s USA volleyball team warms up before a big game. I’ve always been curious about the specifics, you know? Not just the general stuff, but the actual drills they do.

First, I started by scouring the internet. I figured there had to be some videos or articles out there showing their routine. I typed in a bunch of different searches, trying to be as specific as possible.
After a bit of digging, I found some decent footage. It wasn’t perfect, a lot of fan-made stuff, some shaky cam. I then looked at some better quality videos that were not exactly what I was looking for, but gave me a pretty good idea of the types of exercises involved.
I watched several videos a few times each, taking notes on the different exercises I saw. I noticed they did a lot of dynamic stretching, which makes sense. Lots of arm circles, leg swings, torso twists – you name it.
- Dynamic Stretching: Arm circles, leg swings, torso twists, high knees, butt kicks. I jotted down the approximate time they spent on each.
- Pepper: This seemed like a staple. Two players, passing, setting, and hitting back and forth. I observed how they gradually increased the intensity.
- Serving Practice: Pretty straightforward. They worked on different types of serves, jump serves, floaters, aiming for specific zones.
- Hitting Lines: The setters set to different hitters, who practiced their approaches and swings. I focused on the footwork and timing.
- Blocking Drills:They set up different senarios to improve the block.
It was cool to see the progression. They started slow and gradually built up the intensity. It wasn’t just about getting loose; it was clearly about getting their minds and bodies ready for some serious competition. I also paid attention to how the players interacted, that the coaches gave little comments and corrections.
The whole process help me better understand the training, I think i will use some of the drills I have seen in the videos.
