Okay, so the other day I decided to get our pool ready for some serious summer fun. We’ve had this old volleyball net for years, but it was always such a pain to set up. I stumbled across this “Poolmaster Across-Pool Volleyball Game” thing and figured, why not give it a shot?

First, I unboxed everything. Pretty straightforward – you got the net, two poles, and the bases to hold the poles. Oh, and a volleyball, of course. The instructions were, thankfully, pretty simple.
Setting It Up
- Filled the bases with water. This was the first step, and it’s important because these bases are what keep the whole thing stable. I just used the garden hose – easy peasy.
- Inserted the poles into the bases. They just kinda clicked in, nothing complicated.
- Attached the net to the poles. This was a little fiddly, but the net has these sleeves that slide over the poles. I had to make sure it was pulled tight, so there wasn’t too much sag.
- Placed the whole setup on opposite sides of the pool. I eyeballed it to get it roughly centered. The bases are big enough that they’re pretty stable on the pool deck.
Honestly, the whole setup took maybe 15 minutes, tops. Way easier than our old net, which involved ropes and tying things to trees and who knows what else.
Game Time!
Then it is time to play!
We got a game going right away. It was a blast! The net is a good height, and it’s surprisingly sturdy. Even with some aggressive spikes (okay, maybe not that aggressive, we’re not pros), the net held up fine. The volleyball that came with it is nothing special, but it does the job.
The kids (and the adults, I admit) had a ton of fun. It’s a great way to add some activity to a lazy pool day. And the best part? Taking it down was just as easy as setting it up. I just emptied the water from the bases, took the poles out, and rolled up the net. Done.

Overall, I’m super happy with this purchase. It’s made our pool time way more fun, and it’s simple enough that we’ll actually use it all summer long. If you’re looking for an easy way to add some volleyball action to your pool, I’d definitely recommend checking this one out.
