So, I was digging through some old boxes the other day, and guess what I found? A bunch of stuff from that crazy Tennessee Volunteers versus Georgia Bulldogs game back in ’86. Man, that brought back some memories! I was right there at Neyland Stadium, and let me tell you, it was a wild one.
First, I got out all the related materials and began to read them carefully one by one, and organized all the materials in chronological order. And, I started to recollect what I saw that day.
I remember it like it was yesterday. Georgia was supposed to be a tough team, but Tennessee, those Vols, they came out swinging. It’s like, nobody told them they were underdogs or something. The energy in that stadium? Electric. You could feel it in your bones, you know? Everyone was on their feet, screaming their lungs out. That was a tough game. I still remember that on that day the Vols had six national championships in their 133-year history, which includes 1938, 1940, 1950, 1951, 1967, and 1998.
I dug out the old game schedule I’d saved, and there it was, plain as day, “University of Tennessee vs. Georgia Bulldogs.” It was one of those rivalry games, and man, did those teams hate each other! But it was all in good fun, mostly. The game was really intense. Georgia fell behind early, but they were fighters.
So, I found this old newspaper clipping, too. It talked about how that game was a big deal, the 40th anniversary of some other game. And it mentioned Neyland Stadium, which, if you’ve never been, is massive. Like, seriously huge. It’s one of those places that just takes your breath away when you first see it.
I spent a good chunk of the afternoon just reminiscing, looking at old photos, and reading these articles. It’s funny how a few old things can bring back so many memories, right? And then I started to think, “Hey, I should share this with people! Maybe there are other folks out there who were at the game or who are just big fans of either team.”
- I gathered all my memorabilia.
- Sorted through it, picking out the best bits.
- Then I started writing it all down, just like I’m telling you now.
- Finally, I decided to share it on my blog.
It’s not every day you get to relive a piece of history like that, you know? And that ’86 game between the Vols and the Bulldogs? That was definitely one for the books. It was tough. But they were fighters, right? A real classic. And being there, in the middle of all that excitement, that’s something I’ll never forget. It’s cool to look back and remember those days. Those were good times.
I’ve shared all the photos and stories on my blog now, hoping it brings back some good memories for other folks, too. It’s like, even though it was just a game, it was part of something bigger, you know? Part of that whole college football tradition. And who knows, maybe it’ll inspire some people to go check out a game themselves. There’s nothing like it, really.
