Okay, so I’ve been meaning to get into beach volleyball for a while now. It just looks like so much fun, right? Sun, sand, exercise, what’s not to love? I finally decided to take the plunge and check out this place called “Beach Elite Volleyball Club.” I heard good things about it, so I figured, why not?
First, I scoped out their info online. They have different programs, which was cool. I’m a total newbie, so I was looking at their beginner stuff. It seemed pretty straightforward.
Then I decided to just go for it and showed up at one of their beginner clinics. It was a bit nerve-wracking, I’m not gonna lie. I haven’t played organized sports since, like, middle school! But everyone there was super welcoming.
The coaches, they were awesome. They broke everything down into simple steps. We started with the basics, like how to even hold your arms for a proper pass. I definitely felt like a clumsy newborn giraffe at first, tripping over my own feet, haha.
- We practiced bumping the ball, which is harder than it looks, let me tell you.
- Then we moved on to setting, which is like an overhead pass thingy.
- And we even tried serving, which resulted in a lot of balls going wild, but hey, it was fun.
The other people in the clinic were all different skill levels, but everyone was really supportive. We were all cheering each other on, even when we messed up. It was a really good vibe.
By the end of the session, I was sweaty, sandy, and exhausted, but in a good way! I actually felt like I learned a lot. I’m definitely not ready to go pro or anything, but I can see myself getting better with more practice.
My Takeaway
Honestly, joining this Beach Elite Volleyball Club thing was a great decision. I pushed myself out of my comfort zone, met some cool people, and got a good workout in. Plus, I discovered that I actually kind of like volleyball! I’m definitely going to keep going back. Maybe one day I’ll actually be good at it, who knows?
It’s a great place for beginners, the coaches are super helpful, and the atmosphere is really friendly. If you want to try beach volleyball go try it!
