Okay, folks, let’s talk about that insane Nebraska volleyball game at Memorial Stadium. I was so pumped when I first heard about it, and let me tell you, the whole thing was even crazier than I expected.
First, I got my hands on the announcement – it was sometime in, I think, February? Nebraska Athletics dropped the news that the Huskers were gonna play their first-ever volleyball match in the football stadium. The opponent? Nebraska-Omaha. The date? Wednesday, August 30th, at 7:00 p.m. And it was going to be on the Big Ten Network.
I immediately marked it on my calendar. Seriously, who wouldn’t? This was history in the making! I started looking into getting tickets. It’s the kind of thing you have to have been there, you know?
The Build-Up
The weeks leading up to the game were wild. Everyone was talking about it. It was all over social media, all over the local news…pure hype.
- I followed all the updates, checking for any news on special events or anything surrounding the match.
- I made sure my Husker gear was ready to go. Gotta represent!
Then, game day finally arrived! The atmosphere in Lincoln was electric. People were everywhere, decked out in red. It felt like a massive football game day, but with a volleyball twist.
I’ve been to plenty of Husker volleyball games, but this…this was something else. Walking up to Memorial Stadium, seeing that massive crowd, all there for volleyball… it was incredible. I found my seats (thankfully with some help from friendly fans!), and just soaked it all in.
The match itself was awesome, obviously, I mean, it’s the Huskers. It was a great time to be a part of this historic event, with all of us fans together. Seriously, if you ever get the chance to be part of something like this, do it! You won’t regret it.
