Man, it’s been a wild ride trying to get my football stuff out there on Twitter. Let me tell you, it’s not as easy as it looks. Here’s how I went about it:

First off, I started by cleaning up my profile. You know, made sure my picture was decent, wrote a bio that actually said something about me playing football, and all that jazz. I even pinned a tweet that highlighted my best play from last season. Gotta make a good first impression, right?
Then, I started following all the relevant accounts I could find. I’m talking about coaches, teams, you name it. I even followed some of those recruiting accounts that always post about high school players. @coachjamescox, @CoachBlairALMS, @carolina_bowl, @LinebackerCamps, you gotta follow the big ones, they are great resources.
- Sent out a bunch of tweets about my training.
- Posted some highlight videos. I used Hudl to make those look good.
- Retweeted anything that I thought might get me noticed.
And you know what? I even made a tweet saying I was going back to ALMSgators and ALGatorFootball for the fall. Figured it would show I’m committed. That tweet went: “I will return to @ALMSgators @ALGatorFootball this coming fall.”
I also tried to be a bit funny sometimes. Like, I tweeted once about blasting “X Gon Give it to Ya” while driving to a game. Thought it might show some personality, you know? Another time I tweeted, “I love leaving very professional voicemails for my friends when they can’t talk.”
One time I tweeted “Excited to compete at @PackFootball camp this Friday @PackRecruits @InsidePackSport @MichaelClarkPP”. This one got a bit of traction, which was cool.
I also made sure to tag people whenever it made sense. Like, when I posted about that PackFootball camp, I tagged the team and some reporters. Can’t hurt, right?

There was this one site, Y1 Player Profile, I put my stuff on there too. They had a tagline “#GetNoticed,” and honestly, it felt like it was worth a shot.
My dad, he’s been a big help. We even did this thing called “Linebacker University” together. He posted something about it, saying, “Todd and Luke Faulkner share the Linebacker University experience prior to this football season. Uh my son went to Linebacker University couple of weeks ago for their final.” That got some views, likes, and shares, which was awesome.
It’s been a lot of work, and I’m still at it. But hey, you gotta do what you gotta do to get your name out there. Hopefully, all this effort will pay off. Anyway, that’s my story of trying to make it on football Twitter. Wish me luck!
