Okay, so today I decided to try out this “lil sport” thing. I’m not a huge workout person, but I’ve been feeling kinda sluggish lately, so I figured, why not?
First, I had to figure out what I even wanted to do. I’m not about to join a gym or anything crazy. I just wanted something simple I could do at home. I googled around a bit, looked at some “easy home workouts” and stuff, and finally settled on just doing some basic bodyweight exercises.
Getting Started (It Was Rough)
I cleared a little space in my living room, put on some music, and got started. I started with some jumping jacks to warm up. I haven’t done those since high school, and let me tell you, I felt it immediately. I was winded after, like, ten of them. Seriously.
Next, I tried some squats. My legs were already burning from the jumping jacks. I think I managed about five before I had to take a break. I was already sweating, and my form was probably terrible.
- Jumping Jacks: 10 (barely)
- Squats: 5 (pathetic, I know)
- Push-ups: 3 (from my knees, don’t judge)
- Sit-ups: 7 (my abs started cramping)
- Plank: 15 seconds (felt like an eternity)
The Struggle Was Real
Then came the push-ups. I’m pretty sure I can’t do a real push-up. I tried, but my arms just wouldn’t cooperate. So, I did them from my knees. Even then, I could only do like, three. My arms felt like jelly.
After that, I attempted some sit-ups. My core is clearly not as strong as I thought it was. I got to about seven before my abs started cramping up. I had to lie on the floor for a minute to recover.
Finally, I ended with a plank. I figured holding still couldn’t be that hard, right? Wrong. Fifteen seconds felt like an eternity. My whole body was shaking, and I was pretty sure I was going to collapse. I ended it and tried my best to stretch.
The Aftermath
After my “lil sport” session, I felt a mixture of exhaustion and accomplishment. I was definitely tired, but I also felt a little bit better about myself. Maybe this whole exercise thing isn’t so bad after all. I’m not saying I’m going to become a fitness fanatic or anything, but I might try to do this a few times a week. We’ll see how long that lasts.
My body is definitely going to be sore tomorrow, though. I can already feel it.
