Okay, so I’ve been trying to get back in shape, and let me tell you, it’s been a journey! I decided to document my “like sport fitness” routine, mostly for myself, but hey, maybe someone else can get something out of it too.
Phase 1: The “Oh Crap, I Need to Do Something” Phase
It all started with me struggling to climb a flight of stairs without sounding like a dying walrus. That was my wake-up call. I knew I had to make some changes, but the thought of hitting the gym filled me with dread. So, I started small.
- Walking: I began by just walking around my neighborhood. Nothing fancy, just 20-30 minutes a day. I put on some music and just went for it.
- Stretching: My body felt like a rusty old robot, so I added some basic stretching in the mornings. YouTube was my best friend here. I found some easy-to-follow routines.
Phase 2: “Okay, Maybe I Can Do This” Phase
After a couple of weeks, I felt a little less like a slug. The walking was getting easier, and the stretching was making a difference. So, I decided to up the ante.
- Bodyweight Exercises: I found some beginner bodyweight workout videos. Think squats, push-ups (on my knees, let’s be real), lunges, and planks. I started with just a few reps of each, and man, did I feel it the next day!
- Increased Walking Time: I bumped up my walks to 45 minutes, and even started adding some small hills. My legs were not happy at first, but they got used to it.
I started to record these activies to see my daily progress.
Phase 3: “Hey, I’m Actually Enjoying This” Phase
This is where things got interesting. I actually started to like working out. Who knew? I felt stronger, had more energy, and my clothes were even fitting a little better. I felt it is time to do some changes.
- Running (sort of):I start to run in a slow speed, and run 10 minutes.
- Joined a Local Sports Club:I found myself enjoy playing badminton.
- SwimmingI am also trying to put swimming days in my routine.
Phase 4:keep moving!
I still put notes for these activities, and I’m still very much a work in progress, but I’m proud of how far I’ve come. It’s not about being perfect, it’s about showing up and putting in the effort. And trust me, if I can do it, anyone can!
