Okay, so I wanted to keep better track of the Nebraska volleyball games this season. I’m a huge fan, and it’s always fun to look back and see how they did. So, I decided to get my hands dirty and figure out a simple way to record the scores.

First, I thought, “Where do I even find the scores reliably?”
Finding the Score
- I started by searching on the internet.
- Then find Nebraska volleyball offical websites to find the imformation.
- Checked some sports websites I usually visit.
Once I found a couple of good sources, I had to decide how to actually record the information.
Recording the Data
My initial thought was to just use a simple text file. I opened up a new document and typed in something like:
Date: [Date of Game]
Opponent: [Opponent's Name]
Nebraska Score: [Nebraska's Score]

Opponent Score: [Opponent's Score]
Result: [Win/Loss]
I filled that out for the first game I found. It worked okay, but it felt a little clunky. Just a wall of text.
Then, I thought, maybe a spreadsheet would be better! So, I opened up my spreadsheet program (I just use the one that comes with my computer, nothing fancy) and created some columns:
- Date
- Opponent
- Nebraska Score
- Opponent Score
- Result
I started entering the data into the spreadsheet. This felt much better! It was organized, easy to read, and I could even add some simple formatting, like making the winning score bold.

Improving the System
After a few games, I realized I could add another column for notes. I called it “Notes” (creative, I know). In that column, I started jotting down things like:
- Who the key players were.
- Was it home or away.
I added them into sheet, it is awesome!
The End Result
So, that’s pretty much it! I now have a simple spreadsheet where I keep track of the Nebraska volleyball game scores. It’s not perfect, but it works for me. It’s easy to update, easy to read, and it’s way better than trying to remember everything in my head. Plus, when next season it begin, I could review this season to remenber the good time.
