Hey everyone, it’s your boy back again with another story from my life. Today, we’re talking about my recent adventure in picking out a volleyball – yeah, the one for the game.
So, picture this: I decided it was time to get back into volleyball. Haven’t played in ages, but hey, why not? First thing’s first, I needed a ball. Sounds simple, right? Oh boy, was I in for a surprise.
I walked into the sports store, and there it was, a whole wall of volleyballs. Different colors, different brands, different…everything! I mean, who knew there were so many types? I grabbed the first one I saw, a shiny white one – figured you can’t go wrong with a classic.
- First mistake. Turns out, there’s a whole science to this.
I started squeezing them, bouncing them, even tossing them up a bit (yeah, I was that guy in the store). Some felt too hard, others too soft. Some were heavy, some were light. I was lost.
Then, I remembered something. I gotta consider my level, right? I’m no pro, far from it, but I’m not a total newbie either. I mean, I’ve played before, I know the basics. So, I needed something in the middle.
The Search Begins!
I started looking closer. There were these labels – “beginner,” “intermediate,” “advanced.” Okay, that’s helpful. I skipped the beginner ones, no offense, but I needed something a bit more… you know.
I picked up an “intermediate” ball. Felt better. Lighter than some of the others, but still had a good grip. This one was a contender. But then I saw it – the brand. Mikasa. I’ve heard that name before. Isn’t that like, the brand for volleyballs?
- This had to be a sign. Right?
I held it in my hands, this Mikasa ball. It just felt… right. Like it was meant to be. The texture, the weight, the way it bounced when I dribbled it a little (yes, I was still that guy). It was perfect.
But wait, there’s more! I noticed there were different sizes too. Size 3, size 5… what? I grabbed a size 5, the standard one, I think. Compared it to a size 3, and yeah, definitely going with the 5.
So, there I was, holding this white Mikasa size 5 intermediate volleyball. It was like the stars aligned. I took it to the counter, feeling like I just won the lottery. Paid for it, and walked out of that store with a huge grin on my face.
I couldn’t wait to try it out. And let me tell you, it was amazing! The game, the feel of the ball, everything was just perfect. I guess there’s really something to this whole “choosing the right ball” thing.
So, that’s my story, folks. If you’re ever in the market for a volleyball, don’t just grab the first one you see. Take your time, feel them out, think about your level, and maybe, just maybe, you’ll find your perfect match too.
Until next time, keep it real, and keep playing!
