Hey everyone, it’s your boy back again with another one of my little life experiments. This time, it’s all about my new buddy, an F7 Savannah cat. These guys are big, they’re beautiful, and they’ve got energy for days. So, the big question was, how do I keep this little furball from turning my house into a total wreck? Let’s get into it.
First off, I read somewhere that these Savannah cats need both a mental and physical challenge. That sounded about right, considering how this one was bouncing off the walls. So, I went out and got some of those puzzle toys. You know, the ones where they gotta figure out how to get the treats out. It was a bit of a slow start, but once he got the hang of it, he was hooked. I could see the gears turning in that little head of his. It was pretty rewarding to watch, gotta say.
Then there’s the whole indoor cat thing. This cat is not about to go outside, no sir. So I had to make sure he wasn’t getting bored stiff in here. I remembered reading something about cats and their instincts, like climbing and hunting. Made sense. So, I turned my living room into a bit of a jungle gym. Got a cat tree, some shelves on the wall, the whole nine yards. He took to it like a fish to water, scaling those things like a little furry ninja. It’s his own little kingdom now.
- Puzzle toys are a must.
- Indoor setup is key.
- Make the home a playground.
Of course, I can’t be playing with him 24/7. I’ve got work to do. So, I needed to find ways to keep him busy while I was at my desk. I found these cool treat-release toys, and I also started hiding treats around the house. It’s like a little treasure hunt for him. Keeps him occupied for a good while. Plus, I put on some chill music in the background. Seems to keep him calm. Heard that’s a thing, and it seems to work. No automated laser pointers and small toys though – learned that the hard way when I had to fish one out from under the couch for the hundredth time.
But here’s the real kicker. Nothing beats some good old-fashioned playtime. I got this cat wand, and we have these little sessions. It’s the highlight of his day, I swear. We also do a bit of clicker training. Sounds fancy, but it’s just teaching him little tricks. And we’re working on harness training, too. That one’s a work in progress, but we’ll get there. He just looks at me like I am crazy when I bring it out. But, you know, baby steps.
Wrapping It Up
So, that’s the gist of it. Keeping an F7 Savannah cat entertained is a bit of a job, but it’s totally doable. It’s all about understanding what they need and getting a little creative. Trust me, seeing him happy and engaged makes it all worth it. If you’re thinking about getting one of these beauties, just be ready to put in the work. It’s a wild ride, but a fun one. Catch you guys in the next one!
