Okay, so I stumbled upon this thing called “Audio Entertainment” on the New York Times website the other day. I was curious, you know, always looking for new stuff to kill time. So, I decided to give it a shot. I gotta say, it’s pretty neat!

First, I just went to the their website. Then I saw this “Games” section on the top bar. Clicked on that, and boom! There it was, “Audio”. It was right there, staring at me.
I clicked into it and found a bunch of different sound-related games. They got this one called “Sound Tracks”. Basically, they play you these short clips, and you gotta guess what it is. Sounds simple, right? It can get tricky, let me tell you! They got sounds like a car engine revving, or a dog barking, or even someone typing really fast.
Then there’s another one called “The Daily Show” – no, not like the TV show, but a daily new sound. They play you something new every single day, and you gotta figure it out. It’s like a little daily brain teaser, keeps things interesting. Today’s was some kind of weird electronic beeping noise. Still haven’t figured that one out yet…
They also have this section called “Listen Along”. This is where it got really cool. They played a longer, like, a five-minute audio clip of a story. As you listen, they show you words on the screen, kind of like karaoke, but for a story. And there were parts where they let you like fill in the blanks. It feels like you are creating the story as you listen!
My Playing Experience
- Tried “Sound Tracks” first. It was alright. Fun for a few minutes, but I got bored quickly. Some of the sounds were way too obvious.
- Then I did “The Daily Show”. That was more my speed. Short and sweet, and it made me think a little. I like that it’s a new one every day.
- “Listen Along” was the best, in my opinion. Felt more engaging, you know? Like I was actually doing something besides just listening.
Overall, I thought this “Audio Entertainment” thing was pretty cool. It’s a nice way to take a break, have some fun with sounds. Give it a try if you got a few minutes to spare.
