Okay, so I’ve been getting into volleyball lately, and I was super confused about how many games are actually in a match. Like, is it best of three? Five? Seven? I had no clue, so I decided to figure it out once and for all.

I started by just, you know, watching some games. Some were obviously shorter than others. That didn’t really help me nail down a solid number, though. It seemed like sometimes they’d play three games, and sometimes way more.
Digging a Little Deeper
Then I went and read a lot stuff. There were too many big words, I could not understand well and have to find the easy way to know. I did a bunch of searching and finally, I found the simple rules.
- Most matches are best-of-five. Meaning, the first team to win three games wins the whole match.
- Each game goes to 25 points. Except for the last game, that goes to 15 points.
- Must win by two. This hitted me, it mean the score must be like 25-23,not 25-24.
So, yeah, it’s usually best-of-five, meaning the first team to win three games wins the match. I feel so much better now that I’ve finally figured this out! No more confusion during game nights!
