Okay, so I wanted to figure out how long a volleyball game usually lasts. I mean, you see them on TV, but it’s hard to tell with all the commercials and stuff. So, I did a little digging and playing around myself.

My Little Experiment
First, I went online and did some searching. I found some general info saying that most volleyball games last between 60 to 90 minutes, the usual best-of-three matches are a little quicker, usually around an hour. And the best-of-five ones could go close to two hours. oh,and Beach volleyball, those are shorter, around 45 minutes.
But, you know, that’s just words on a screen. I wanted to see for myself. So, I rounded up some friends.
- Gathering the Team: First, I had to get some players together. This took some time. Texting, calling, and rescheduling.
- Finding a Court:Then Next up, we needed a court. Luckily, there’s a park near my place with a volleyball net. We went there, hoping it would be free.
- Playing the Game:And then, We played a couple of “best-of-three” matches.
- Time record:I kept an eye on my watch, it’s my old watch.
The Results
The first match we played, it was pretty quick. We finished it in just under an hour, about 55 minutes. Everyone was kinda fresh, so the rallies weren’t super long.
The second match, though? That one went a bit longer, closer to 70 minutes. We were all getting a little more warmed up, making some better plays, and the points took longer to score. I think best-of-five will cost more time.
What I Learned
So, based on my little experiment, and what i got from Internet, I’d say it’s pretty spot on. A typical volleyball game, at least the best-of-three kind, does average around that hour mark, best-of-five will cost more,of * if you are watching the beach game, that will be shorter.
It’s not a hard and fast rule, of course. Some games will be shorter, some longer. But it gives you a good idea of what to expect if you’re planning to play or watch a game.
