Okay, so the other day, I was trying to figure out how long my niece’s high school volleyball game would be. I promised I’d be there, but I also had other stuff to do, you know, life. So I needed a rough estimate, at least.

Diving into the Game Time Mystery
First, I checked the schedule. No help there, just the start time. Then, I remembered watching a few games before, and they seemed pretty quick. But how quick is “pretty quick?” Not very scientific, right?
I started digging around online.I found some stuff about “sets” and “points,”.
Here’s the breakdown of what I figured out:
- High school volleyball matches are usually “best-of-five” sets. This means the first team to win three sets wins the match.
- Each set goes to 25 points, but you gotta win by two points. So, if it’s 24-24, they keep playing until one team is ahead by two.
- The fifth set, if they even need it, only goes to 15 points, but still with that two-point win rule.
Putting it All Together (My Best Guess)
So, thinking about all that, I estimated each set could take anywhere from, say, 15 to 25 minutes, maybe a bit longer if it’s a really close one.
If a match goes the full five sets, and each set’s around 20 minutes on average (just to make the math easy), that’s like 100 minutes, plus a few minutes between sets.
If they win the game in 3 sets,it will be 60minutes.

I figured I’d be safe planning for about an hour and a half to two hours, just to be sure. It’s better to have extra time than to rush, I always * I made it that,It was fun!
