Okay, so the other day I was wondering, what’s the highest scoring volleyball game ever? I mean, we’ve all seen some nail-biters, but I wanted to know the absolute limit.

Digging for the Record
First, I hit up Google. Just a simple search, you know, “highest scoring volleyball game ever”. The results were kind of all over the place. Some forums, some news articles, nothing super concrete. I saw a bunch of different matches mentioned, but it was hard to tell what was official and what was just, like, someone’s high school gym class going into overtime.
Sorting Through the Noise
I spent a good hour just clicking through different *’s will show many diffrent volleyball match scores and * confused me.I read forum posts,I checked,I compared.
The Result
I finally found a few matches and I think I get the answer
- The longest set.The longest set took place in a Korean V-League match between the Incheon Korean Air Jumbos and the Cheonan Hyundai Capital Skywalkers in 2013. The score of a single set was 56-54!
- Longest Olympic Match.I found that the longest Olympic volleyball match happened at the Rio 2016 women’s quarterfinal between South Korea and the Netherlands, which lasted for a mind-blowing 144 minutes.
So, there you have it. It’s not one single game, but a collection of super long, super intense matches. Pretty wild, huh?
