Okay, so, a friend of mine, her daughter’s all about this flag football thing, right? And she was asking me when the season is here in Nevada. I thought, “Hey, I can figure this out,” and honestly, it turned out to be a bit of a rabbit hole, but I got the info and thought I’d share my little adventure here.
First off, I grabbed my phone and fired up Google. Just typed in something simple like “high school girls flag football season NV”. I figured that would get me somewhere, you know? And yeah, it did, but it wasn’t exactly straightforward.
I started clicking around on some of the links. There were a bunch of different websites – some for individual schools, some for leagues, and some that were just general sports sites. It was a bit overwhelming, I won’t lie. I spent a good chunk of time just trying to figure out which sites were legit and which ones were, well, not so much.
Digging Through the Info
- One site talked about the sport being a “winter” season thing.
- Another site showed schedules, but they were all from like, last year.
- I even found a forum where people were talking about it, but it was mostly just parents complaining about practice times.
So, I decided to try a different approach. I went back to Google and searched for the Nevada Interscholastic Activities Association, or NIAA for short. I figured they must have some kind of official information, right?
Bingo! Their website was a little clunky, but I eventually found a section on flag football. They had a whole bunch of documents – rules, regulations, schedules, you name it. I had to sift through a few of them, but I finally found what I was looking for.
Turns out, the girls’ flag football season here in Nevada is indeed a winter sport. It usually starts around November or December and goes on until February or so, with playoffs and championships happening after that. It looked like the schedules weren’t finalized super early, which is probably why I saw some outdated info on other sites.
Anyway, I passed along the info to my friend, and she was super grateful. It felt good to actually find the answer after all that digging. And who knows, maybe I’ll even go check out a game or two this winter. It actually sounds kind of fun!
