Well, let me tell ya ’bout this game day volleyball thing. It’s a big deal, you know? Lots of folks gettin’ all riled up about it.
What is this game day volleyball all about?
First off, you got these young’uns, high school kids, playin’ their hearts out. They runnin’ and jumpin’, hittin’ that ball over the net. Heard tell there’s championships and all. They call it the “Championship 1” or somethin’. Sounds fancy, huh? Anyways, these kids, they play in their towns, and then they go to bigger places, like this Raleigh place, to play for some kinda state title. Lots of excitement, I reckon.
- High School Volleyball: Lots of runnin’ and jumpin’.
- Championships: Big games, big prizes.
- State Title: Best team in the whole state, I guess.
Then you got the college kids. They play too, and it’s a whole ‘nother level, I tell ya. They got this thing called the “NCAA.” Don’t ask me what it stands for, I ain’t got a clue. But these college gals and guys, they play all over the place. Heard tell they started their season in some place called Louisville, Kentucky. Fancy, huh? And they play on TV too, on somethin’ called FS1 and FS2. Don’t know what that is, but it sounds important. These kids, they got rotations and all sorts of fancy moves. It’s somethin’ else.
More than just kids playin’
But it ain’t just the young’uns playin’ this volleyball. There’s these grown-up folks too. Men and women, both playin’. And they good, real good. They play all over the world, even in other countries. Heard tell the USA team is the best, winnin’ all sorts of cups and prizes. World Cup, Grand Prix, somethin’ called Pan-American games. My, oh my, all these names make my head spin!
And this year, they got somethin’ called the Olympics, in Paris, France. That’s way over yonder, across the ocean. Heard tell they gonna be playin’ volleyball there too. Gonna be on TV, I reckon. Gonna watch it if I can figure out how to turn the darn thing on.
Keepin’ track of volleyball games
Now, how do you keep track of all this volleyball stuff? Well, there’s this ESPN thing. It’s on the TV, and they tell you when the games are and who’s winnin’. And they got this other thing, League One Volleyball, they call it LOVB. Heard tell it’s the biggest thing for young volleyball players. And then there’s the Nebraska team, they pretty good too. They playin’ some new teams this year, Big Ten newcomers they call ’em. Heard they travelin’ all the way to the West Coast to play. That’s a long ways, I tell ya.
Local games right here too!
And don’t forget the local games! We got our own local kids playin’ too, you know. Heard tell the WNC volleyball season just started. Them young’uns been practicin’ real hard. Gonna go watch ‘em play one of these days, if my old bones let me.
So, that’s what I know ’bout this game day volleyball. It’s a lot, I tell ya. Lots of games, lots of teams, lots of runnin’ and jumpin’. But it’s fun to watch, even if you don’t understand half of what’s goin’ on. It’s excitin’ to see folks doin’ their best. Gets your blood pumpin’ a bit, and that can’t be too bad for an old woman like me.
Volleyball is a big deal
Seems like everywhere you look, there’s volleyball. From high school gyms to college arenas to international competitions, they’re all smackin’ that ball over the net. And people love it! They cheer, they yell, they get all worked up. It’s somethin’ else, I tell ya. Makes me wish I was young again, maybe I would have tried to smack that ball myself. Well, maybe not. Probably break a hip doin’ that at my age.
But anyhow, that’s the lowdown on game day volleyball, as best as I can figure it. It’s a fast-paced game, lots of action, and folks seem to really enjoy it. So, next time you hear about a volleyball game, maybe you should tune in and see what all the fuss is about. You might just find yourself gettin’ all riled up too.
