So, I’ve always been a huge fan of the entertainment industry, you know, movies, TV shows, all that jazz. I figured, why not try to get my foot in the door early? That’s when I decided to dive headfirst into the world of entertainment internships. Let me tell you, it’s been a wild ride!

First things first, I started scouring the internet for any and all internship opportunities. I stumbled upon websites like ShowbizJobs and Indeed, and let me tell you, there were tons of listings. I mean, hundreds of internships in film, TV, production, you name it. I felt like a kid in a candy store, but also a bit overwhelmed. Where do I even begin?
I decided to narrow it down to companies that really excited me. I’ve always been a fan of DreamWorks Animation, so I checked out their website. Turns out, they have this awesome internship program where you get to work alongside artists and storytellers. I mean, how cool is that? I immediately started working on my application, making sure my resume and cover letter were top-notch. I even practiced my interview skills, just in case.
- Then, I found out about Sony Interactive Entertainment’s internship program, which is for 12 weeks paid. This is great for me! I sent my application as soon as possible.
- I also stumbled upon the Lifted Entertainment (ITV Studios) Work Experience Programme, but sadly, the position was already closed. Bummer! But that didn’t stop me. I kept searching and applying to other places.
Waiting for the reply was a tough period.
After submitting a bunch of applications, the waiting game began. It was nerve-wracking, to say the least. I kept checking my email every five minutes, hoping for a response. Finally, I got an email from DreamWorks! They wanted to schedule an interview. I was ecstatic! I prepped like crazy, researching the company and practicing my answers to potential interview questions.
The interview day arrived, and I was a nervous wreck. But I put on my best smile and tried to stay calm. The interviewers were really nice, and we talked about my passion for animation and my skills. I even got to share some of my own animation projects. It felt great to talk about something I truly loved.
It was really a long time to wait for the result.
After the interview, the waiting game continued. Days turned into weeks, and I started to lose hope. But then, one sunny afternoon, I got the call. I got the internship! I couldn’t believe it. All that hard work had paid off. I was going to work at DreamWorks!
During the internship, I learned so much. I got to shadow experienced animators, attend meetings, and even contribute to some projects. It was an amazing experience. I met so many talented people, and I felt like I was finally part of the industry I had always dreamed of. I think during the internship, I crossed paths with celebrities, producers, directors, screenwriters, casting directors, lighting crews, musicians, production staff, and editors.

So, that’s my story of how I landed an internship in the entertainment industry. It wasn’t easy, but it was definitely worth it. If you’re passionate about something, don’t be afraid to go for it. You never know what might happen!
