So, I’ve always been a bit of a sports nut, and living near Georgia Tech, I figured it was time to check out a volleyball game. I’d heard their games were pretty hype, so I grabbed a ticket for a Saturday match.
First things first, I had to find the schedule. I just googled “Georgia Tech volleyball schedule,” and boom, it was right there. Easy peasy. Picked a game that worked for me and snagged a ticket online. You can also probably get them at the door, but I like to be prepared.
Getting to the game
I drove, which was okay. Parking wasn’t super obvious, but I just followed the signs and ended up in a deck that seemed close enough. It was a little bit of a walk to the actual venue, O’Keefe Gymnasium, but nothing crazy.
The Game Itself!
- The Atmosphere: Okay, this was way more fun than I expected. The student section was wild, the band was playing, and everyone was super into it. I even learned a few of the chants (Go Jackets!).
- The Volleyball: These girls are good. Seriously impressive athleticism. The sets were intense, the spikes were killer, and there were some crazy dives to keep the ball in play.
- The Breaks: Between sets, they had some fun stuff on the court – little contests, the cheerleaders, that kind of thing. Kept things lively.
It can have food and drinks, of course I grabbed some popcorn and a soda. Standard stadium fare, you know?
Georgia Tech ended up winning, which made the crowd even more pumped. I’m not gonna lie, I got swept up in it too. High-fived a bunch of strangers. Good times.
After the game, it was pretty easy to get out of the area. Traffic was a bit heavy, as you’d expect, but nothing too terrible.
Overall, I’d totally recommend checking out a Georgia Tech volleyball game. It’s a fun, affordable way to spend an afternoon or evening, and you get to see some seriously talented athletes. I’ll definitely be back!
