So, I got this idea in my head a while back that I really needed to see one of those big Texas volleyball games live. You hear about the crowds, the energy, especially for the Longhorns. Sounded like something you just gotta do, right?

Getting Started – The Dream
First thing, I pulled up their schedule online. Saw a match coming up against one of their big rivals. Perfect, I thought. This is the one. I marked my calendar for when tickets went on sale. Woke up early that day, had the website loaded, ready to click ‘buy’ the second they dropped.
The Reality Check
Well, that was a joke. The website slowed to a crawl immediately. Kept getting error messages. By the time it finally loaded properly, maybe ten minutes later? Gone. Every single seat. Seriously, it felt like they sold out instantly. I checked some resale sites later out of curiosity. The prices were just nuts. Hundreds of dollars for one ticket? No way I was doing that.
Felt pretty bummed out. Is it always like this? Just trying to go see a college game shouldn’t feel like trying to get into Fort Knox.
Second Try – Lowering Expectations
Okay, plan B. I waited a bit, looked for a game against a team that wasn’t such a big name. Figured maybe that would be easier. Found one on a weeknight. This time, I actually managed to get tickets through the official site, though it still wasn’t exactly smooth. Had to click around a lot, find seats that weren’t way up in the rafters.
Then came game day. Drove down there. Parking was its own adventure, took ages to find a spot that didn’t cost an arm and a leg and wasn’t a mile away. Finally got inside Gregory Gym.
Inside the Arena
Have to admit, once I was in my seat, it was pretty cool. The place was packed, even for a “lesser” game. The noise when Texas scored was intense. You could feel the floor vibrating sometimes. Watching the players up close, seeing the speed and power, it’s way different than on TV. They are seriously good athletes.

- The band was loud.
- The crowd really got into it.
- Seeing the plays develop live was neat.
Final Thoughts
So, did I finally experience a Texas volleyball game? Yeah, I did. Was it worth all the hassle and the cost? Hmm. I’m glad I went once. The atmosphere was electric, definitely something to see. But that whole process of getting tickets, the parking, the crowds… it takes a lot of effort and planning, and frankly, money.
Honestly, it made me appreciate watching from my couch a bit more sometimes. You see the replays better, haha. I’ll probably still follow the team, maybe catch some games on TV. Going in person again? Maybe, if a friend has tickets or something, but I don’t think I’ll be fighting that online ticket queue again anytime soon. It just felt like a bit much for a regular fan just wanting to catch a game.
