So, I’ve been digging into this whole “Red Sport” thing lately, and let me tell you, it’s been a bit of a journey. I was looking to spice up my ride, and the forums were all buzzing about these tuned Red Sports with crazy horsepower and torque. Naturally, I got curious.
I started by looking around for a car to purchase. I found this 2019 Sandstone Red Q50 Red Sport with all-wheel drive. It had just under 30,000 miles on it and honestly, it felt like a steal at $38,500. Back in the day, I snagged a 2009 G37xS sport for 18 grand with even fewer miles, so this felt like a major upgrade.
Then began the real deep dive. I was trying to figure out which cars get the best results after some serious performance upgrades and tuning. I knew the Red Sport packed 400 horsepower right out of the gate, which was tempting, but I wanted to see what else was possible.
I spent hours scouring forums and comparing notes. What I gathered was that the Red Sport has some beefed-up components, like the brakes (which are red, by the way, and come with a fancy red ‘S’ logo), 20-inch wheels and dual core heat exchanger. These features really did seem to give it an edge.
I also checked out the Silver Sport, just to see how it stacked up. From what I could tell, with some bolt-ons and a good tune, you could really push that engine, too. So there really was not much difference for upgrading.
Here’s What I Did
- Purchased a 2019 Q50 Red Sport.
- Researched like crazy on forums and owner groups.
- Compared the Red Sport to the Silver Sport.
- Considered bolt-ons and tuning options.
At the end of the day, I realized that if you’ve got the budget and you’re not looking for a used car, the Red Sport is a beast with its 400 horsepower. But, here’s the kicker – it’s got the same engine as the 3.0T! So, really, the potential for power is there across the board.
I learned a lot through this whole process. Whether you go for the Red Sport or not, there’s no reason to expect much difference when push comes to shove. If you love your car, there is always a way to get the most out of it!
