Okay, so the other day I was thinking, “Man, I miss playing volleyball, but it’s freezing outside!” So, I started brainstorming games that give me that same kind of vibe, you know? That feeling of teamwork, quick reactions, and spiking a ball (or something like it) right in someone’s face… virtually, of course.

Digging Around for Alternatives
First, I jumped onto my computer and started searching. I typed in stuff like “games similar to volleyball” and “sports games with team play.” It felt like I was digging for gold, only instead of gold, it was fun games.
I found a bunch of articles and forum posts, all with people looking for the same thing. It was kinda cool to see I wasn’t the only one with this craving. I jotted down some names that kept popping up.
My List of Contenders
Here’s what I ended up with, my personal list of “volleyball-ish” games:
- Rocket League: Okay, hear me out. It’s cars playing soccer, BUT it totally has that fast-paced, aerial action, team-based thing going on. You’re constantly bumping, jumping, and trying to “spike” the ball into the goal. It’s surprisingly similar in feel.
- Slap Shots: This is all on my plan to play later.
- Blobby Volley: It is super simple that make me want to try.
Giving it a Go
I decided to dive into Rocket League first because so many people recommended it. And I’m not gonna lie, it took a bit to get used to. Controlling a car in the air is way different than controlling a volleyball player!
But once I got the hang of the basics, I started to see the similarities. I was flying through the air, trying to hit the ball at just the right angle, working with my teammates to set up shots. It wasn’t volleyball, but it definitely scratched that itch.
The Verdict
So, while I haven’t found a perfect volleyball replacement, I have found some games that capture some of the same excitement. Rocket League is my favorite, but to be honest, I spent a bit more time than planned searching. I gotta go!
