Okay, so today I decided to get back into volleyball. It’s been a while, honestly, but I used to play a lot in high school and I’ve been missing it. So, I figured, why not give it a shot again?
Getting Started
First things first, I needed to find somewhere to play. I remembered a local park that sometimes has nets set up. I drove over, hoping for the best.
- Checked the park – Luckily, there was a net! But no one was playing.
- Called up a couple of old buddies – I mean, who wants to play volleyball alone?
The Awkward Warm-up
My friends, bless their hearts, agreed to meet me. It was a little awkward at first. We’re all a bit rusty, to say the least.
- Started with some easy passing. Balls were flying everywhere. It was comical.
- Tried some setting. My fingers remembered the motion, sort of.
- Attempted some spiking. Let’s just say the ground got hit more than the ball a few times.
Actually Playing
After a while, we got into a groove. Not a good groove, but a groove nonetheless. We decided to just play a casual game, no real scoring.
- Divided into some simple teams.
- Served the ball.
- Bumped, set, and spiked(or at least, tried to)
It was messy, there were a lot of missed hits, and we were all laughing pretty hard, We were running, we were diving (sometimes unintentionally), and we were having a blast.
Wrapping Up
We played for about an hour before calling it quits. We were all pretty tired, but it felt great to be active and playing again.
I’m definitely feeling it a bit now, muscles I forgot I had are making themselves known. But it was totally worth it. I’m already planning to do this again next week. Hopefully, with a bit more practice, we’ll get better. Or at least, have even more laughs.
