I went out today to get myself a new beach volleyball. I’ve been wanting to play more, and the old ball I had was, well, pretty beat up. So, I figured it was time for an upgrade.
First, I headed to the sporting goods store. I walked straight to the section with all the balls, and there they were – a whole bunch of volleyballs, all different colors and brands.
Choosing a ball
Now, I’m no pro, but I do know there are a few things to look for when picking a volleyball. Like, the size and weight matter, right? And of course, the material – you want something that’s gonna last, but also feels good when you hit it. And let’s be real, the design matters too, I wanted to pick one that’s easy to see on the beach.
- Size and Weight: I went for the standard size and weight, nothing too crazy.
- Material: After feeling a few, I realized I like it soft.
- Grip and Feel: I tested out the grip, and just how it felt in my hands, and I chose a pretty good one.
- Design: I picked one with bright colors – gotta be able to see that thing in the sand and sun. I chose a simple yellow-colored ball.
I ended up going with a Mikasa Beach Pro BV550C. Yeah, the one that replaced the VLS300. It’s got this smooth, soft feel that I really like. Some folks prefer the Wilson OPTX AVP, which is a bit firmer, but this one felt just right for me.
After I bought the ball, I went straight to the beach. I mean, what’s the point of getting a new ball if you’re not gonna use it, right? I met up with a couple of friends, and we started playing.
Let me tell you, that new ball made a difference. It felt great to hit, and we had a blast playing. We played for a couple of hours, just hitting the ball around, practicing our serves, and having a good time. There’s just something about beach volleyball – the sun, the sand, the teamwork, it’s all so much fun.
So yeah, that was my day. I got a new volleyball, played some games, and had a great time with my friends. I’m definitely looking forward to more beach volleyball days with my new ball. It’s the little things, you know?
