Okay, here’s my experience playing in the basketball league at the Claymont Community Center in Delaware, told in a casual, personal blog style:

So, I decided to join this basketball league at the Claymont Community Center. I heard about it from a buddy who said it was a good mix of fun and competition, and it’s open to everyone, no matter where you live or anything. Sounded pretty cool, right?
First off, I found out that the league is actually called the Community Youth Basketball League, but it’s not just for kids, which was good news for me. They have different seasons throughout the year, so you can pretty much jump in whenever.
Getting started was easy. I went to the community center. They have all the info there, and the staff was super helpful.
The games themselves are a blast. I got put on a team, and we named ourselves “Team Claymont”. The first game we played was against Wilmington Christian. We crushed them, 55-29! Felt good to start with a win. It was a non-league game, held over in Hockessin, but it got us warmed up for the league games.
- We played most of our games at the Claymont Community Center.
- It was such a great experience to play with my team.
- Our team was called “Team Claymont”.
We had a few more games lined up. The schedule was easy to find in the community center. One game I remember was on a Friday, November 1st, 7:00 PM, against the Knights Staley 5th Boys. That one was at the Beal Center Court 2. We also had one scheduled for December 13th, which I was looking forward to.
They have this app, powered by something called Demosphere, that’s supposed to keep you updated on scores and schedules. I downloaded it, but honestly, I mostly just relied on the info posted at the community center. It was easier to check after practices.

There was this other thing, the 1st Annual CBL Golf Tournament in Bethlehem, PA, happening in February 2024. I’m not a golfer, but it sounded like a big event they were putting on.
Overall, playing in the Claymont Community Center basketball league was a great experience. Good exercise, met some cool people, and got to play some ball. If you’re in the area and looking for a fun, relaxed league, I definitely recommend checking it out. It’s a good way to get involved in the community and have some fun on the court.
It is such a wonderful time for me to play in the league. I will be there next year.
