Today, I decided to try out a fun game I heard about called balloon volleyball. It sounded simple enough, so I thought, why not give it a go?
Getting Ready
First, I grabbed a balloon and blew it up. I tied it off, making sure it was nice and bouncy. I also cleared out a space in my living room, pushing aside the coffee table and some chairs to make some room.
Setting Up the Game
I didn’t have a net, so I got creative. I took some string and tied it between two chairs to make a makeshift net. It wasn’t perfect, but it would do the job. I placed the chairs about six feet apart, and the string was about waist-high.
Playing the Game
I started playing by myself, just to get a feel for it. I hit the balloon over the string and then ran to the other side to hit it back. It was harder than I thought! The balloon was so light that it was hard to control where it went.
- I tried to use my hands like in regular volleyball, but the balloon kept floating away.
- I experimented with using my forearms, and that worked a bit better.
- I even tried to use my head, which was pretty funny but not very effective.
Getting My Family Involved
After a while, I called my family to join in. My kids thought it was hilarious. We divided into two teams and started playing properly. We laughed so much as we chased after the balloon, bumping into each other and missing the balloon more often than not.
Tweaking the Rules
We made up some rules as we went along. We decided that if the balloon touched the ground, it was a point for the other team. We also agreed that we could only hit the balloon once before it had to go over the net. It made the game more challenging and fun. We played until we were all tired and out of breath, but it was worth it. It’s always good to get up and move, especially when you can have this much fun.
All in all, it was a fun and silly way to spend the afternoon. I recommend giving balloon volleyball a try if you’re looking for a simple and entertaining game to play at home.
