Okay, so I’ve been wanting to get into beach volleyball for a while now, and what better way to do that than by watching some high-level play? I heard about the Canada Games, and it turns out they had a beach volleyball tournament between Alberta and Ontario. I mean, these are some of the best young athletes in the country, so I figured it would be a good watch.

First off, I had to find out where to even watch this thing. I did some digging and found out that the games were being streamed online. I’m not tech-savvy or anything, but I managed to figure it out. I got myself all settled in, you know, snacks, drinks, the whole shebang. I was ready for some serious volleyball action.
The match started, and man, it was intense from the get-go. Both teams were really bringing it. Alberta had this one player, super tall, who could spike the ball like nobody’s business. I had to keep reminding myself I was sitting in my living room and not right there on the beach.
- Alberta’s Strengths:
- They had a really strong offense. Those spikes were killer.
- They seemed to have a height advantage, which helped with blocking.
- Ontario’s Strengths:
- Their defense was on point. They were digging up some crazy shots.
- They were really good at setting each other up for plays.
The first set was a real nail-biter. It went back and forth, with neither team really pulling ahead. Ontario’s defense was solid, they were diving all over the place, keeping the ball alive. But Alberta, they just kept hammering away with those powerful attacks. I was on the edge of my seat the whole time.
Eventually, Alberta managed to edge out Ontario in the first set. I was like, “Whoa, this is gonna be a good one!” It was anyone’s game at this point.
The second set started, and Ontario came out swinging. They were not messing around. Their serves were getting better, and they were starting to find some holes in Alberta’s defense. They were really hustling, and it was paying off. I started thinking they might actually pull this off.
But then, Alberta’s big guy started to heat up. He was just unstoppable. Every time he jumped, it felt like the ball was going to go through the sand. Ontario’s defense, which had been so good earlier, started to crumble a bit. It is tough to stop someone like that.

The Final Showdown
It came down to the wire, and in the end, Alberta took the second set, and the match. I gotta say, I was a little bummed for Ontario, but it was a heck of a game. Both teams played their hearts out. It was exactly what I wanted to see.
Watching that match really got me fired up about beach volleyball. I even went out and bought a volleyball the next day. I’m still no expert, not even close, but I’ve been practicing my serves and bumps in the backyard. Maybe one day I’ll be good enough to play in a real game. Who knows? But after watching those young athletes in the Canada Games, I’m definitely inspired to give it a shot.
