Today, I wanna talk about someone I’ve been following in the volleyball world – Akiko Hasegawa. She’s a Japanese beach volleyball player, and I’ve been digging into her career lately.

First off, I started by checking out her profile online. Just wanted to get the basics, you know? Her bio, where she’s from, that kind of stuff. Turns out she’s quite the player, and she’s transitioned from indoor volleyball to beach volleyball. I always find those transitions interesting.
Then, I stumbled upon some info about an event she played in – the “JBV Shinagawa Open” back in 2019. It was held on May 4th and 5th. Reading about her performance there gave me a better idea of her skill level and how she handles competition.
Oh, and get this – I found out her husband is also a beach volleyball player, Yoshiumi Hasegawa. A volleyball power couple, how cool is that? It got me thinking about how their shared passion might influence their careers.
Next, I dove into her partnership history. I was curious about who she’s teamed up with on the AVP Pro Beach Tour. One name that popped up was Azusa. Looks like they played together for a bit. I spent a good chunk of time looking at their stats – matches played, wins, losses, all that jazz. It’s always interesting to see how different partnerships work out.
Then I headed over to * to check out some of Akiko’s final results in various tournaments. This gave me a more complete picture of her overall performance and how she’s been doing recently. You can really see her progress over time by looking at these results. There was a match against Canada’s Melissa Humana-Paredes and Brandie Wilkerson, but I don’t remember the result.
Lastly, I found an article mentioning her switch from indoor to beach volleyball. It talked about the challenges and adjustments involved in making such a big change. It really highlighted her determination and adaptability as an athlete.

So yeah, that’s been my little research project on Akiko Hasegawa. It’s been fun learning about her career and all the different aspects of being a pro beach volleyball player. Hope you enjoyed this little deep dive as much as I did!
