Okay, so I finally decided to give “acro sport ii” a try. I’d seen some videos online, and it looked pretty cool, so I figured, why not?

First things first, I needed to find a place to actually do this. I looked around for local clubs or groups, found a beginner’s class, and signed up. I’m not gonna lie, I was a bit nervous walking in. Everyone seemed to know what they were doing, stretching and chatting. I just kind of awkwardly stood there.
The instructor, a super energetic woman named Sarah, thankfully took me under her wing. She started me off with the basics. We are talking really basic – like, learning how to properly position my hands and feet. It felt a little silly at first, but I quickly realized how important these fundamentals are.
We then moved onto some simple partner poses. My first partner, thankfully, was another newbie, so we fumbled through it together. We tried to do this thing where I was supposed to balance on his hands, but, uh, let’s just say it didn’t exactly go as planned. We both ended up in a heap on the floor, laughing our heads off.
My First small Success
After a few more awkward attempts, we started to get the hang of some of the easier poses. I even managed to hold a basic “bird” pose for a few seconds! It felt amazing, like I was actually flying (well, almost).

- Show up-check.
- Try not to die- success.
The class was an hour long, and by the end, I was exhausted but exhilarated. My muscles were definitely feeling it, but in a good way. It was challenging, fun, and a great workout. I even made a couple of new friends, which was a nice bonus.
I’ve been going to the class for a few weeks now, and I’m slowly but surely improving. I’m still nowhere near as good as some of the other people there, but I’m not letting that discourage me. I’m just focusing on my own progress and having fun.

It’s definitely a journey, and I’m excited to see where it takes me.
