Okay, so today I decided to dive back into the world of retro gaming and revisit an old classic: N64 volleyball. I remember spending hours playing this with my friends back in the day, so I was curious to see if it still held up.

First things first, I had to dig out my old N64. It was tucked away in the attic, covered in a thick layer of dust. I blew off the dust, found the power cable and A/V cables, and hooked it up to my TV. I was half expecting it not to work, but to my surprise, the familiar Nintendo logo popped up on the screen.
Next, I needed to find the game cartridge. I had a box full of old N64 games, and after rummaging through it for a while, I finally found the volleyball game. It was a bit worn out, but I popped it into the console, crossed my fingers, and turned on the power.
The game booted up, and I was instantly hit with a wave of nostalgia. The simple graphics, the cheesy music, the basic gameplay – it was all just as I remembered.
I started by choosing team, selecting from a lineup of blocky, pixelated characters.
Game Time
- I played a few matches against the computer, just to get a feel for the controls again. It took a few minutes to get the hang of the timing and positioning, but soon enough, I was bumping, setting, and spiking with the best of them.
- The AI was pretty basic, of course, but it was still challenging enough to be fun.
- I experimented with different teams and characters, trying to find the best combinations.
- I even managed to pull off a few impressive dives and blocks, which was super satisfying.
After a couple of hours, I had to call it quits. My eyes were starting to hurt, and my thumbs were getting sore. But overall, it was a blast from the past. The N64 volleyball game might be simple by today’s standards, but it’s still a fun and engaging game, especially if you have some friends to play with. It definitely brought back some good memories, and I’m glad I took the time to revisit it.
