Okay, so the other day, I was watching a volleyball game with my friend, and he asked, “How long does a volleyball game even last?” Honestly, I had no clue. I mean, I knew it wasn’t like soccer with a set time, but I wasn’t sure how it all worked. So, being the curious person I am, I decided to do a little digging.

My Little Investigation
First, I grabbed my phone and did a quick search. I found out that there’s actually no time limit in volleyball. Pretty wild, right? It’s all about scoring points.
Then, I watched a few games online and paid close attention. Here’s what I noticed:
- Games are played in sets.
- The teams keep playing a set until one of them gets to 25 points, and they have to win by at least 2 points.
- Most matches are “best of five” sets. so the team who win three sets, who is winner.
I started timing some of the sets I was watching. Most of them seemed to take around 20 to 30 minutes. Of course, some were quicker, especially if one team was way better than the other, and some others were longer, because the two teams had a close score.
Putting It All Together
So, based on my “research” (watching games and Googling, haha), I figured a typical volleyball match, the kind that goes to maybe four or five sets, probably lasts around one and a half to two and a half hours. But remember, a really competitive match, especially if it goes to the full five sets and they’re all close, could easily take longer, even up to three hours.
It’s definitely not a quick in-and-out kind of sport! You gotta settle in for a while if you’re gonna watch a full match.
