Okay, so the other day, I was trying to figure out the schedule for my niece’s volleyball games. I wanted to know, like, “how long is a hs volleyball game?” so I could plan my weekend properly. It’s not as straightforward as you might think!

My Little Research Journey
First, I hit up Google. You know, the usual. I typed in something like “high school volleyball game length” and started digging through the results. Mostly some general stuff popped up.
I learned that high school games usually take about 60 to 90 minutes, including warm-up time. But it’s not timed strictly like basketball or soccer.
Checked some forums, and people also say the match time is different. The time a game takes actually depends a lot on how good the teams are!
- If it’s a really close match, with lots of back-and-forth, it’s obviously going to take longer.
- If one team totally dominates, it’ll probably be over quicker.
So, basically, there’s no single, simple answer. But from what I gathered, budgeting about an hour and a half is a pretty safe bet. Then add the post-game which maybe cost another 30 minutes. That is my experience.
I figured this was good enough for my planning purposes. I mean, I wasn’t going to be timing the games with a stopwatch or anything!
